Studying Abroad
Introduction
In a society which needs English competence when it comes to successful life, most of the students think about going abroad. Therefore, I decided to investigate whether or not going abroad can be effective in improving English competence. The objectives in this research are singled out randomly in ELT class.
Method
The objectives are divided into two groups. The one group is people who have not been to abroad and another group is people who have been to abroad. For people who have been to abroad, there are four questions: how long they have been, why they went abroad, which skills they had improved, the reasons about the question before and thinking about going abroad again. For people have not been to abroad, there are two questions. The objectives in this research are singled out randomly in ELT class, and they are given research.
The period of being in abroad
According to research, the four people have been to abroad among eight people’s responses. Two people have been to abroad for a year and the rest of them are more than four years. The other four students have not been to abroad.
Why they went to abroad
It seems to be that most of students went to another country for studying English and some of them went to abroad for travelling.
Which skill is improved
All students who have been to abroad think they have improved four parts of skill including listening, speaking, writing and reading as I expected.
Answers from people who have not been to abroad
All students want to go studying abroad for improving their English because they think that it will be an effective way to go.
Conclusion
Overall, all students agree with the fact that going abroad is effective way to improve their English skills as I expected. In general, the students who have been to abroad want to go abroad again for studying English.
